Hell, they’re divesting from new drugs as well as new vaccines. Or vaccines of any kind. I read that people are resisting vitamin k shots for newborns to help with blood clotting. I guess this will continue until too many people “regret their decision” with prejudice. A hell of a lot of money and effort has gone into keeping people healthy and keeping pathogens at bay. Ignore that at your peril.

They say they want cures, but they won’t accept them if/when they’re delivered.

The problem is a lack of firsthand experience.

If your experience with polio is nonexistent, it's easy to dismiss "1 in 1000 people suffer from paralysis" as a small fraction of cases without considering the horrific reality of that paralyzing thousands of people in a city of millions, to say nothing of the other effects.

This is also, I think, related to why doctors are often dismissive of patient concerns - our expectations have shifted, because so few things that occur frequently require active intervention to reduce mortality any more, comparatively.

I sometimes wonder what would have happened in an alternate reality if Trump had taken full credit for Operation Warp Speed and and named it the Trump Vaccine with an executive order to "Make Vaccines Great Again", etc.
