Why is this not way more widespread?

    Slow and TCP only. Also requires client to have software that raises the odds that you're doing something sketchy.

    I did use them in the past to access my homelab via SSH but replaced that a long time ago with VPN.

    Or are you asking why arent more people using Tor in general?

    Domain names are random, cant memorize them. Solving that requires centralization or blockchain of some sorts.

      I don't see how it's an issue when qr codes and bookmarks are a thing.

      Why do you need to memorize it?
